Stephanie Modica

Clermont, Florida

Stephanie is a native of Clermont, Florida and graduate of South Lake High School. After high school, Stephanie attended the University of Florida (Go Gators!) graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Stephanie then earned her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Roger Williams University of Law where she was a participant in the Honors Program and Assistant editor of the Law Review.

Stephanie began her career as a Judicial Staff Attorney in Lake County for the Honorable Don F. Briggs, Honorable Mark A. Nacke, Honorable Michael G. Takac, and Honorable James Baxley. As Staff Attorney in both Circuit and County Court, Stephanie developed extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of civil and criminal matters and had the unique opportunity to work closely with the Judiciary from within the court system. After her tenure as Staff Attorney, Stephanie was hired as an Assistant Public Defender serving under the Honorable Michael Graves, where she defended hundreds of juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases. Throughout her career, Stephanie has been involved in a multitude of cases with diverse issues of law and fact including dissolutions of marriage, paternity actions, class actions, complex civil litigation matters, injunctions, and all forms of criminal defense, including the post-conviction of relief and appellate issues. Stephanie brings her unique experience to Langley, Nagel, Crawford, & Modica, Chartered Attorneys at Law as head of the Criminal and Family Law divisions for the firm.

Stephanie recognizes the importance of giving back to her community and participates in a wide variety of philanthropic pursuits. Stephanie is most proud of her recent appointment to the Board of Cornerstone Hospice. She believes her work with Hospice is an important way to honor the memory of her late husband, Frank Tricomi, who sadly passed away in 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. In addition to her work with Cornerstone Hospice, Stephanie is the secretary of the Lake County Bar Association Board of Directors and volunteer with the Lake County Teen Court program. Stephanie also serves as a pro bono Guardian ad Litem and Attorney ad Litem for children involved in the dependency system. In her free time, Stephanie loves playing golf with her dad (who ALWAYS beats her), practicing yoga and hanging out with her miniature schnauzer, Barrington, and her Coton, Oliver, who are (naturally) the cutest dogs in the whole world!
